About the Student
Alicia Zhang is an undergraduate student at the University of California Berkeley. She is interested in biochemistry and is currently an undergraduate assistant in a Berkeley developmental biology lab on Drosophila melanogaster, specifically with the gene Zelda and its role in DNA transitioning to an accessible state. She has also studied the genetic disease cystic fibrosis. As a lover of science, Zhang also founded a small local community program in 2019 in her hometown where she designed and instructed science lessons through fun experiments and activities for elementary students.
